Commercial Kitchen Fire Suppression in London
Design, installation and annual servicing for London kitchens, planned around the building as well as the cooking line.
London is one of our three core regions, alongside Hertfordshire and Essex, about 30 miles from our Stevenage base by the A1(M). For suppression the distance is rarely the hard part. Surveys, installations and annual servicing are all booked ahead, and in London most of the planning goes into the building: getting in, working around service, and leaving the paperwork your landlord and insurer will ask to see.
The capital’s kitchens are more varied than anywhere else we work: West End and Soho restaurants running back-to-back lunch and dinner services, hotel kitchens that never fully close, contract caterers running staff restaurants in City and Canary Wharf offices, school, university and hospital catering, and delivery-only dark kitchens in industrial units and railway arches, often with several brands cooking side by side.
Many of them also sit inside someone else’s building. A restaurant below offices or flats, or a staff restaurant several floors up a tower, answers to a landlord, a managing agent and an insurer as well as to fire safety law, and any of them can ask for evidence that the suppression system over your cooking line is properly designed and maintained. We install to your insurer’s requirements, arrange access with the building in advance, and leave documentation after every visit that you can pass straight on.

Coverage
From the City to the outer boroughs
Plenty of central London kitchens sit in basements or older buildings, with an extract duct that climbs through the floors above, past other occupiers, to discharge at roof level. A fire that reaches that duct becomes the whole building’s problem, so expect a landlord or insurer to ask what protects the cooking line beneath it. The building shapes the visit too: loading bays booked ahead, security inductions, managing-agent permits and restricted parking all go into the plan before we arrive rather than being discovered on the day.

What We Install
Ansul-compatible wet chemical suppression
The same system and service described in full on our main fire suppression page, delivered locally.
Designed to your cooking line
Nozzles are positioned for the appliances you actually run, with coverage across fryers, ranges, chargrills and griddles plus the canopy and ductwork above them.
Gas and power cut on activation
When the system discharges it simultaneously shuts off the gas and electrical supplies to the cooking equipment, so the heat source is removed rather than just suppressed.
Serviced and documented annually
Annual servicing at minimum, installed to meet insurer requirements, with documentation left after every visit for your records and your insurer.
For the full detail on how the system works, what it protects and what servicing involves, see our commercial kitchen fire suppression page. Kitchens in London often pair it with extract and ductwork cleaning and gas safety inspections.
Common Questions
Fire suppression in London
Yes: the City and all 32 boroughs, from the West End and Canary Wharf out to Croydon, Richmond and Enfield. Our Stevenage base is about 30 miles up the A1(M), so north London is nearest to us, but suppression does not depend on being round the corner. Surveys, installations and annual servicing are booked in advance, so a kitchen in south-west London is arranged in exactly the same way as one in Barnet.
